Progesterone, LC/MS

Progesterone, LC/MS - This test (1) determines the presence of a functioning corpus luteum or luteal cell activity, (2) verifies basal body temperature readings related to ovulation, (3) provides an estimate of the ovulation day, and (4) evaluates placental function during pregnancy.



Preferred Specimen(s):

1 mL serum collected in a red-top tube (without gel)


Alternative Specimen(s):

Plasma collected in: EDTA (royal blue-top) tube, sodium heparin (green-top) tube, lithium heparin (green-top) tube, or EDTA (lavender-top) tube


Minimum Volume:

0.25 mL
